AboutHaving owned and competed horses for most of my life, and ridden on what I now know to be unsuitable or ill-fitting saddles, I find the whole subject of saddle fitting incredibly complex and interesting. The way a horse moves and their huge variety of shapes and sizes make my job fascinating and challenging. As a rider, BHSA1 qualified instructor and NVQ Level 3 Horse care Assessor, I am able to see 'the whole picture', meaning the saddle must fit both horse and rider correctly, stay level and balanced when in motion and be suitable for activities undertaken. Being patient and understanding, I will spend all the time necessary to arrive at the perfect solution of the rider and their horse. Having undertaken a bridlework course at the Cumbria School of Saddlery, I am able to carry out some repairs to saddles. Bigger or more complex repairs and full reflocking are carried out by my saddle maker Sturgess Saddlery who are master saddlers. I carry out flocking adjustments |
